 So, let’s begin……

Once again, hi/hello/Namaskar to our lovely and Caring MoMsters. First, let me introduce about common cold briefly & later we can jump into safe home remedies for our little wonders!

The common cold can be caused by more than 200 different viruses. – (uff so many viruses!) Virus which causes cold

Yes, babies and toddlers are more susceptible to the common cold. Most children have at least 12 colds in the first 2 years of life.

Each cold can last about 2 weeks. (Yup it’s a struggle period for all moms).

Symptoms of a cold with both babies and toddler

when to see a doctor when baby is suffering with cold

  • Runny nose (1st  a clear later a yellow discharge).
  • Decreased appetite (for toddlers).
  • Sore throat.
  • Mild fever (101-102 degree F).
  • Feeling tired and fussy.
  • Slightly swollen glands.

Most of the parents wonder, why do doctors prescribe antibiotics for small kids.

There is no medical cure for the common cold and each symptom is treated separately.

When a doctor diagnoses symptoms related to acute bronchitis, Pneumonia, or Acute bacterial sinusitis, only then he prescribes antibiotics to treat because these infections are bacterial and not viral.

We are not done yet. You will have more to explore about cold and cough in our next articles. Know more about preventive measures and homemade remedies for common cold and cough in our upcoming articles.
